Bühler Changzhou marks 20 years as feed equipment orders fill capacity

With orders booked through 2027, Bühler Changzhou is marking two decades of manufacturing as feed producers seek greater efficiency and tighter process control.

CHINA – Bühler Changzhou, the global headquarters of Bühler’s Animal Nutrition business, is marking its 20th anniversary as the facility operates at maximum capacity, with orders booked through 2027.

The Chinese site supplies around 30,000 units of equipment annually to customers worldwide as feed producers face pressure to improve efficiency, optimise resource use and maintain product quality.

Established in 2006, Bühler Changzhou has grown into one of the company’s three global manufacturing hubs.

Its approximately 1,000 employees support manufacturing, research and development, applications, training and customer service.

The facility manufactures equipment for feed production, including pellet mills, hammer mills, mixers, micro-dosing systems, vacuum coating equipment, extrusion systems, dryers, and material-handling solutions.

It also supplies digital technologies designed to improve production performance.

According to Bühler, global feed production rose by 2.9% in 2025 to 1.44 billion metric tons.

The company says producers must meet growing nutritional needs while managing raw material and energy costs, adapting to new ingredients and maintaining feed safety and consistent quality.

“Over the last 20 years, Changzhou has grown into a center of expertise for developing and manufacturing these technologies,” said Philipp Hug, head of Bühler’s Animal Nutrition business unit.

New technologies target feed production efficiency

More than 650 customers, partners, suppliers and industry experts attended the anniversary celebrations, which included Bühler’s Value Nutrition Innovation Forum.

Discussions covered manufacturing efficiency, resource use, digitalisation and changing nutritional needs across livestock and poultry feed, aquafeed, premix production and pet food.

Bühler presented several technologies to address these challenges. The Z-Mission heat recovery system improves energy efficiency, while the Nutrex 7 Series extrusion system, available since May 2026, supports feed processing.

The company also showcased its Kubex 5 Series pellet mill for animal feed and food production.

The digital systems PelletingPro and ProteinPro provide real-time data and closed-loop control to support more consistent, predictable production.

“The technologies we presented during the event respond to priorities we hear from customers around the world,” said Liping Shao, general manager of Bühler Changzhou.

“Producers need practical ways to improve efficiency, use raw material more efficiently, strengthen process control, and turn production data into better decisions.”

The anniversary highlights Bühler Changzhou’s role in supplying equipment and digital solutions as feed manufacturers seek to improve productivity while using resources more efficiently.
