Victory Farms harvests record 100 tonnes of tilapia in one day

The Kenyan aquaculture producer’s latest production milestone comes as it expands farming capacity to improve fish availability and affordability.

KENYA – Victory Farms has recorded its highest daily fish harvest, reaching 100 metric tonnes (MT) of tilapia as the Kenyan aquaculture producer scales operations to supply more consumers with affordable fish.

The company said the record harvest reflected coordination between its farm and sales teams, which work together to move fish from production to market within 36 hours of harvest.

The rapid turnaround aims to preserve freshness and taste while improving access to locally produced tilapia.

Victory Farms said its production model is designed to help more Kenyan families access fresh, affordable fish, supporting nutrition and food security.

Following the milestone, the company challenged its sales team to sustain the momentum by moving the harvested fish into the market.

The achievement comes as Victory Farms expands its aquaculture operations in Kenya to increase production capacity and strengthen domestic fish supply.

In June 2026, the company broke ground on its third Kenyan fish farm in Homa Bay, with plans to advance aquaculture production, research and innovation, infrastructure development and skills development.

The project follows the groundbreaking of a second farm in Homa Bay in February, which the company said would deliver 30,000 MT of fish to Kenyan consumers.

In March, Victory Farms announced plans to expand cage farming on Lake Victoria through its second commercial cage-farming investment in Kenya, targeting annual production of 30,000 MT of tilapia.

The expansion is supported by investment from AgDevCo, which provided US$15 million in financing announced in April 2026 to help scale the company’s aquaculture operations across East Africa.

AgDevCo had previously provided US$4 million in financing in 2021 to improve production efficiency and operational scale.

The latest harvest milestone highlights the importance of production efficiency and coordinated distribution in scaling aquaculture to meet demand for affordable animal-source protein.

As Victory Farms continues expanding its farming capacity, its ability to maintain consistent output and move fish quickly to market will be important to translating increased production into improved fish availability for Kenyan consumers.
